CineTecnia is a unique international festival that celebrates the fusion of cinematic art and technological advancements. Our mission is to explore how technology drives creativity in cinema, unlocking new possibilities in storytelling, visuals, and sound.

Each edition of CineTecnia serves as a meeting point for filmmakers, technologists, artists, and general audiences, offering an immersive experience that includes:

* Workshops and conferences on the latest technologies applied to cinema.
* Interactive spaces with experiences in virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and more.

Technological Short Films:Maximum Duration: 20 minutes (including credits)

Best Technological Short Film: Awarded to the best short film that combines innovative storytelling and creative use of film technology.

Prize: €2,000 / Trophy / Certificate of Recognition

Narrative Innovation: Recognition for the short film with the most original and disruptive narrative approach in its category.

Prize: €1,000 / Trophy / Certificate of Recognition


Technological Feature Films: Minimum Duration: 90 minutes (including credits)

Best Technological Feature Film: Awarded to the most outstanding feature film for its use of technology and cinematic storytelling.

Prize: €3,000 / Trophy / Certificate of Recognition

Direction: Recognition for the director whose creative and technical vision made a difference in the feature film category.

Prize: €2,000 / Trophy / Certificate of Recognition

Visual Innovation: Awarded to the feature film with the most innovative visual or aesthetic effects.

Prize: €2,000 / Trophy / Certificate of Recognition


Technological Documentaries: Duration: No specific restrictions, but must exceed 30 minutes

Best Technological Documentary: Recognition for the work that best documents and explores the impact or evolution of technology in society or a specific field.

Prize: €1,000 / Trophy / Certificate of Recognition

Narrative Research: Awarded to the documentary that demonstrates exceptional investigative depth in its technological narrative.

Prize: €500 / Trophy / Certificate of Recognition


XR Projects: Interactive Experiences of Virtual, Augmented, or Mixed Reality

Immersive Experience: Awarded to the XR project offering the most impactful and engaging experience for the audience.

Prize: €1,000 / Trophy / Certificate of Recognition

Interactive Design: Recognition for the project that demonstrates innovative and creative user-narrative interaction design.

Prize: €500 / Trophy / Certificate of Recognition


Audience Award:Awarded to the work (in any category) that receives the highest rating from the festival audience.

Special Jury Mention: Recognition for a work that, while not winning its category, demonstrates outstanding quality as determined by the jury.

1. Festival's Purpose

The CineTecnia International Film and Technology Festival aims to foster innovation in cinema and technology, highlighting projects that explore the creative and narrative possibilities of new technologies in the audiovisual field.

2. Competition Categories

The festival features the following competitive categories:

Technological Short Films
Maximum duration: 20 minutes (including credits).

Technological Feature Films
Minimum duration: 90 minutes (including credits).

Technological Documentaries
No specific duration restrictions, as long as they exceed 30 minutes.

Extended Reality (XR) Projects
Interactive experiences in virtual reality, augmented reality, or mixed reality.

3. Participation Requirements

General

Works must have been produced in the last two years prior to the festival's date.

Productions from any country are welcome, but if not in Spanish, they must include subtitles in Spanish.

Each participant can submit a maximum of three works, provided they meet the category's requirements.

Both independent projects and those supported by recognized studios or production companies are accepted.

Projects promoting hate speech, explicit violence, or content that infringes human rights will not be accepted.

Do not publicly announce your work’s selection until the official communication regarding the selected films is made by the festival.

All selected works must submit an EPK (Electronic Press Kit) containing stills or photos of the work, a photo of the director, and a filmography of the director (maximum 600 characters).

prizes will be awarded to the directors of the films, except in cases where the films are produced by academies, schools, or educational institutions.

Specific Category Requirements

Short Films, Feature Films, and Documentaries
Productions must showcase a prominent use of or theme related to technology (e.g., technological advancements, ethical issues, impact on society, etc.).

Submit in MP4 or MOV format with a minimum quality of 1080p.

XR Projects

Must be submitted in executable format or with clear installation instructions.

Specify technical requirements (hardware/software) needed for viewing.

4. Registration Process

Registration Period:
From January 1 to May 10 of the current year, at 23:59 hours, Central European Time (CET, UTC+1).

Registration Method:
Participants can submit their works to the festival through two methods:

Official Festival Platform
Complete the registration form on the official festival website.
Upload the work via the designated platform or share a secure download link.
Pay the registration fee through the available methods (credit card, bank transfer, etc.).

Festhome
Register the work through the Festhome platform by following the steps on their system:
Create an account or log in to Festhome.
Find the festival in the available list.
Attach the work and all required documents.
Pay the registration fee directly on the platform.
Festhome will automatically notify participants about the status of their registration and send the works to the organizing committee.

For registrations through Festhome, the festival will comply with the platform's terms and conditions regarding data and file handling.

Registration Fees

The fees will be the same regardless of the method used:

Short Films: 15 €
Feature Films and Documentaries: 25 €
XR Projects: 20 €

Registration Confirmation:
Participants will receive an email confirming their registration along with a unique tracking code.

5. Selection Criteria

A specialized jury will evaluate the submitted works based on the following aspects:

Originality (30%)
Unique or innovative narrative proposals.
Fresh perspectives on the technological theme.

Thematic Relevance (25%)
Direct connection with technology and its impact on society, art, or innovation.

Technical Quality (25%)
Notable use of technical resources such as cinematography, editing, sound, and visual effects.

Emotional and Intellectual Impact (20%)
The ability of the work to generate reflection, emotions, or debate among the audience.

6. Notification and Screening

Official Selection:
Participants selected will be notified before May 15.
Chosen works will be screened during the festival according to the category and official schedule. Selected participants will receive detailed instructions on submitting additional files or high-quality copies for projection.

7. awards and Recognitions

The festival will award cash prizes, trophies, and certificates in the following categories:

Technological Short Films: Best Technological Short Film, Best Narrative Innovation.
Technological Feature Films: Best Technological Feature Film, Best Direction, Best Visual Innovation.
Technological Documentaries: Best Technological Documentary, Best Narrative Research.
XR Projects: Best Immersive Experience, Best Interactive Design.
Special awards: Audience Award, Special Jury Mention, Special Thematic Section.

Summary:
The awards include unique trophies designed exclusively for the festival, cash prizes ranging from €500 to €3,000, as well as certificates of recognition. Additionally, the Audience Award includes the acquisition of broadcasting rights by the TV channel CortoFilms and its promotion. The winners will be announced during the Closing Ceremony on the last day of the festival.

Special Recognitions

Honorary CineTecnia Award: Awarded to a prominent figure in cinema and technology for their career and contributions to the sector.
Youth Creativity Award: Certificate and mentorship for emerging young talents (under 25 years old).

8. Rights and Responsibilities

Participants guarantee the authorship and transfer of exhibition rights to the festival for the screenings and promotional activities related to the event. These works will become part of the festival's archive.
Participants transfer the rights of public exhibition and dissemination of the submitted works to the TV channel CortoFilms for broadcast via any media (streaming, linear TV, IPTV, etc.) to facilitate public viewing.
Non-selected works will retain all rights without restrictions from the festival.
The festival is not responsible for technical issues caused by damaged or incompatible files.
The festival organizers are not responsible for copyright-related claims.

9. Acceptance of the Rules

Participation in the festival implies full acceptance of these rules, as well as the decisions made by the jury and the organizing committee.
