Mecal Lab is a professional short film development program held annually in Barcelona, Spain, as part of the renowned Mecal Pro Festival. The lab selects five short fiction projects (under 30 minutes) and provides filmmakers with intensive training and mentoring through seven specialized workshops. These cover topics such as crowdfunding, script doctoring, marketing and distribution, sustainable filmmaking, public funding, AI in cinema, and pitching strategies. Each selected project receives personalized coaching and a €3,000 grant to support the film’s production.
The 2025 edition will take place from June 26 to July 6. Applicants must submit a biography of the director and producer, a motivation letter, a full project dossier, and the short film’s script. The application fee is €15, and the deadline is May 15, 2025.

IDFAcademy is an intensive four-day program held within the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), aimed at directors and producers working on their first or second feature-length documentary. It targets filmmakers who have demonstrated national talent and seek to expand internationally. The program includes talks with renowned filmmakers, panel discussions, case studies, and networking events focused on global documentary market trends and challenges.
Applicants must submit a form including their biography, filmography, motivation, and learning goals. Optional materials include ongoing projects and audiovisual samples. IDFAcademy is not a traditional project development lab but a professional training and networking platform.
The application deadline is August 1, 2025, and the program runs from November 13 to 16, 2025, in Amsterdam. About 100 participants from around the world will be selected.

Las Industry Screenings del Curtas Vila do Conde IFF son sesiones privadas que presentan nuevas cortometrajes que buscan una estreno mundial o internacional. Estas sesiones están dedicadas exclusivamente a profesionales de la industria cinematográfica, ofreciendo una oportunidad única para visualizar películas inéditas y generar interés y establecer contactos con programadores, distribuidores y otros profesionales del sector.
El evento está dirigido a un público selecto que incluye programadores y directores artísticos de festivales, responsables de seleccionar las películas para otros festivales internacionales, agentes de ventas, que buscan nuevos títulos para comercializar a nivel global, distribuidores, que buscan contenido cinematográfico para diferentes mercados y plataformas, y canales de televisión, que frecuentemente buscan nuevas obras para exhibir. Otros profesionales, como productores y cineastas, también pueden participar para explorar oportunidades de networking.
El programa de las Industry Screenings se crea en colaboración con la Agencia de Cortometraje, una entidad especializada en la curaduría y promoción de cortometrajes, que garantiza la selección de películas de alta calidad y relevancia internacional.

Ibermedia promotes the development of feature film projects aimed at the market, particularly the Ibero-American market. To be eligible for this aid, the participation of independent companies from at least two member countries of the fund is necessary, except in the cases of companies from El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua (where projects developed by one or more national production companies may also participate).

IBERMEDIA PROGRAM - CO-DEVELOPMENT OF FEATURE FILMS
Cortometrajes de ficción, animación, documental o experimentales en fase inicial de desarrollo son presentados a programadores, canales de televisión y productores internacionales, siendo el mejor proyecto premiado por un jurado. Este evento tiene como objetivo promover asociaciones entre productoras portuguesas y "decisores" internacionales, en torno a proyectos de cortometrajes. Además de las sesiones de pitching, también es una oportunidad única para que los productores y participantes mantengan encuentros informales.
Además, el Premio Blit – "In Development" será otorgado al mejor proyecto, con un valor de 2.000 euros en servicios de postproducción, patrocinado por Blit.
