The Residència de Guions (5th edition) is a script development program organized by the Catalan Film Academy, based in Catalonia, Spain. It is designed for film projects at the writing stage and offers long-term creative support for screenwriters.
The application period runs from January 19 to February 23, 2026, until 3:00 pm. The residency itself will take place from September 2026 to May 2027, lasting approximately nine months.
The call is open to feature-length projects in fiction, documentary, and animation. It operates as a scriptwriting residency and development lab, rather than a market or pitching forum, focusing on in-depth work on the screenplay.

CPH:FORUM is an international funding and co-production forum that is part of the CPH:DOX festival in Copenhagen, Denmark. The call is open to projects from around the world, with a focus on Scandinavia and Europe. It mainly accepts documentary and creative projects, including works that explore the intersection of fiction and non-fiction, auteur documentaries, investigative filmmaking, visual art, and science-related projects.

CPH:FORUM
The FantasoLab 2026 Fantastic Genre Short Film Laboratory opens applications from January 22 to February 20, 2026. This is a training‑focused lab designed for creators of fantastic genre short films — including science fiction, fantasy, and horror — who want to develop their projects through workshops, mentorship, and work sessions. The emphasis is on short films in development, between 7 and 15 minutes, with a first draft script ready at the time of submission.
The main laboratory activities will take place from April 6 to April 11, 2026, with preliminary sessions and individual work from late March to early April. Although based in Colombia, the call accepts international applications, especially from Ibero‑American creators, with priority given to Colombian talent. This initiative is not primarily a competition or market but a creative development environment to support and strengthen fantastic short film projects.

Lab Cortos - Fantasolab
The Málaga Film Festival announces the RTVE Talent Award Festival de Málaga / Málaga Short Corner, aimed at fiction short film script projects. The call is open to registered production companies in Spain and seeks to support the creation of new short films up to 30 minutes in length.
Applications are open until February 2, 2026. Selected projects will have the opportunity to be presented at the Málaga Short Corner (MAFIZ) during the festival’s industry and market section, taking place from March 10 to 12, 2026. The Research & Development Grant from Chicken & Egg Films is aimed at filmmakers who identify as women or gender-expansive, including cis women, trans, non-binary, two-spirit, and agender individuals. The program supports feature-length documentary projects in early research or development stages, providing funding and guidance to strengthen narrative and creative planning.
Applications are open from December 3, 2025, to February 4, 2026, with an early-bird deadline on January 7, 2026. Results will be announced in mid-July 2026, and project development will run from July 2026 to May 2027.
The grant is open internationally, accepting filmmakers from around the world, except those in countries under U.S. sanctions. Only feature-length documentaries in research or development are eligible; short films, series, and projects in advanced production are not accepted.
