June, 21st is the final deadline to submit your film to the 30th New Orleans Film Festival (NOFF)

Next week is the final deadline to submit your film to the New Orleans Film Festival, produced annually since 1989 by the New Orleans Film Society to take the newest independent films to the city of New Orleans with the film festival and also a permanent schedule of screenings all year round.

Looking for original, audacious and thought-provoking films, NOFF is particularly interested in films from filmmakers whose perspectives are less often represented in film production (last year, more than 50% of the films were helmed by women and gender non-conforming filmmakers, and over 45% were helmed by filmmakers of color).

Qualifying festival for the Oscar® Awards in all three Academy®-accredited categories for short films: The recipients of the festival's Documentary Short Jury Award, Narrative Short Jury Award, and Animated Short Jury Award will be automatically eligible for consideration in their respective categories of the Academy Awards®.

Lastly, the Festival offers each year Jury Awards to films in 7 different categories. The grand total value of the awards given in 2018 was in excess of $90.000 in camera equipment, production services and editing and post-production software.

Do not hesitate and submit your film before next June, 21st!

CINETORO is projected as a transdisciplinary Festival-School, dedicated to curatorial practice and the training of filmmakers; building bridges between emerging talents and prominent national and international artists, and promoting analysis and criticism related to the production and thinking behind experimental cinema and animation.

We advocate for a cinema where poetry and art dialogue; that draws its limit beyond the perimeter of spectacularity, of technical correctness, of the topics and forms on the agenda. It is an imperfect cinema, which accepts its artisanal condition and is concerned with the recovery of the consciousness of corporeality; reflecting, problematizing and questioning the construction of image and sound.

Cinema with a territorial imprint, which redesigns, mutates and pronounces itself before the world. Resignifying the territory, transforming the perspective on rurality and providing the community with spaces for the appropriation of knowledge.

ABOUT

XV ENCUENTRO PARA CINÉFAGOS
A Cinema and Arts Festival on the Border
San Cristóbal, Venezuela
August 7-9th 2025

The fifteenth edition of the Cinephagus Meeting, born in 2011 from the conjunction of the Andes University Cinema Club and BORDES, an independent organization dedicated to study and promote arts and humanities in Venezuela, will be held in San Cristóbal (Venezuela), from August 7 to 9, 2025, with an online screen available for audiences around the world.

Experimental films are more than welcome: our festival encourages innovation and transgressing of format, genres, political and aesthetic borders. We are especially receptive of video-art and dance films, as well as animation and documentaries, considering it necessary for artists to have adequate spaces for the exhibition and critique of their work, outside commercial circuits and other formal demands that may limit creative exploration of contemporary languages.

We are also interested in films exploring the subject of frontiers. Táchira is located in the border of Venezuela with Colombia, and this has traditionally been the most active geo political limit in Latin America, but in the last five years activity has been more than unusual, deserving many different views to be displayed. The story of this and other borders from around the world may be valuable contributions to our festival, which encourages reflective discussion as well as aesthetic enjoyment of all works presented.
