Moscow International Film Festival, one of the oldest and most renown festivals in the world: Class A Festival

Logo of Festhome
Published: 21 Feb 2020

The 42nd Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF), Oscar® qualifier and FIAPF accredited, will close its call for entries next February, 21st

The Moscow International Film Festival's first edition took place in 1935, which makes it the second oldest film festival in the world, right after Venice. It has become over the years a cultural and social phenomenon acknowledged internationally and a mandatory milestone for world film premieres. All main film production companies look for a place to premiere their films in the Moscow International Film Festival because they recognise the power of the festival's audience in Russia as one of the most seasoned film viewers in the world. Plus, the Film Market that takes place as part of the MIFF has strengthened its reach and is now most appealing for international distributors.

The festival is not just a key forum for the film world, but also a great social event. Among the festival's guests, such great stars as Federico Fellini, Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor, Peter Finch, Richard Burton, Robert de Niro or Anna Karina can be counted… More recently, stars such as Brad Pitt, Quentin Tarantino, Tim Burton, Jack Nicholson, Jeanne Moreau, Meryl Streep, Gerard Depardieu, Jacqueline Bisset, Richard Gere, Alan Parker, or Geraldine Chaplin, among others, attended the festival.

The prestigious brand of Swiss watches and jewellery, Chopard, is the author of the Palm d'Or, the most famous award given by the festival, which is made in gold, and also of 13 more of the festival's awards, which are made in precious metals.

Qualifying festival in the documentary category for the Academy Awards® and FIAPF accredited as a Class A festival: International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) recognises Moscow as a Class A competitive non-specialised festival, a category shared with just a handful of festivals such as Cannes, Berlin or Venice. Furthermore, the winner of the Silver George award to the Best Documentary film will be pre-selected for the Oscars®.

The festival will accept submissions until February, 21st, exclusively through Festhome. Do not miss this incredible opportunity and submit your film to the 42nd Moscow International Film Festival!

9filmfest

Bangkok, Thailand

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic worldwide, 9FilmFest will cancel the May 27 - 28 dates and will move to September 2-3, 2020. Bangkok has closed malls, theatres, restaurants, schools and there is no update to when services will resume again. But the past two days has seen a drop in the number of Covid-19 infections, so we are hoping for control of the pandemic. We appreciate your understanding and offer our support during these difficult times of quarantine.

Welcome to the 8th Bangkok 9FilmFest, an annual international short film festival held in the greatest city in South East Asia. The 8th 9Fest will be held at Cinema Oasis, Bangkok’s newest indie film centre. Located on Bangkok’s pristine Sukhumvit road, not far from the famous Emquartier Mall. 9Fest was founded by filmmakers, for filmmakers and audience. We are excited to announce 9FilmFest dates of September 2-3, 2020.

Tell us your story! We accept short films of all genres.

What is more rewarding than having your film accepted into Competition? As Filmmakers, we take great pride in announcing our film is in the competition! “9” is the luckiest number in Thailand. Thus, 9 films are selected as Competition Finalists. Film Science, needs festivals to screen and create memorable and inspiring experiences for filmmakers and the audience. When we capture the audience we are successful!

Last year, the 9Fest Finalist Program screened at the magnificent Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields.

Last year, at the 2019 Indy Shorts Festival, the THE TRANSLATOR’s director, Pagorn Jungrungruang flew more than 11,000 miles to Indianapolis from Thailand to present his film at the 9Fest Program screening.

Here’s what they said at Roger Ebert’s website:

SERIOUS OSCAR CONTENDERS UNVEILED AT 2019 INDY SHORTS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
by Matt Fagerholm www.rogerebert.com

9Fest, the short film festival run in Bangkok by Brian Bennett, was the focus of a special section at Indy Shorts, compiling several works from directors around the globe, and like all the festival curation I observed here, it was anything but redundant. Bake Phouikham’s “Fallen Star, Rising Sun,” offers a candid sit-down with Ko Chandetka, the first Lao-American bodybuilder, whose struggles with addiction nearly derailed his life. He told me afterward that he believes there’s no healthy way to participate in any sport on a world-class level, and that one must always weigh the risks with the rewards.

The creative world is at your fingertips. 9FilmFest’s goal is to support filmmakers, applaud their hard work, spark creativity and provide opportunities for discovery. We’re here to make filmmakers dreams come true.

9Fest looks forward to seeing your amazing stories. We ensure your consideration in submitting and trusting us with your film.

VinartFest is a multidisciplinary art event around the culture of wine and its symbolism that will celebrate its fourth edition in May 2023. Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the first and second editions were celebrated online, even though the festival was created as a presential event to take place in the hamlet of Las Ventas de Alcolea, between Albacete and Cuenca province.
VinartFest wants to be a meeting point for diverse artistic expressions, gathered around the same common thread: the creative and evocative power of wine and its culture.
The Festival is articulated around a dual objective: to showcase the cultural riches that the wine universe possesses, as well as to empower a rural area that has become depopulated and is a testimony to the “emptied Spain”. The festival is an initiative of the non-profit association, Asociación Cultural de Las Ventas de Alcolea.
As part of the event, la Asociación Cultural de las Ventas de Alcolea, has convened the IV Contest of Micro-Rrelato, Photography and Short Films VinartFest 2023, which will join the rest of the activities that will be scheduled within the framework of the Festival.
