New Orleans, United States

The NOLA Critical Edge Film & Live Art Festival 2019 celebrates filmmakers and performers. There will be screenings of short films, and a showcase of short performance experiments from some of the most striking artists working today. Our mission is to create an environment where artists can network. After each screening and performance, we will have a panel, and have the opportunity to get insight from established directors, actors, producers, artists, and performers. This is our festival’s 2nd time around, and we are ready to see what the minds of visual artists and musicians have to share in the Crescent City.

For the first time, Nola Critical Edge will have its own sector of awards for artistic activism. Artistic activism is a creative force that educate us, influences our notions about human relationships, and brings about social change. We will celebrate artists that have used their passion for activism by paying tribute to them and publicizing their art. Furthermore, we will be giving lifetime awards to artists who have contributed to social justice and activism in NOLA.

Lucca Film Festival

Lucca, Italy

Lucca Film Festival is an annual event that celebrates and promotes cinematographic culture. Through screenings, exhibitions, conferences and performances, the Festival has been able to captivate an ever-increasing audience with a program that ranges from experimental to mainstream films. Through the years, Lucca Film Festival has carved out a niche for itself, standing apart from the many other festivals thanks to its bold yet carefully studied programming. Over the years, great names of international filmmakers and well-known celebrities have attended Lucca Film Festival as invited guests; David Lynch, Oliver Stone, Jeremy Irons, Willem Dafoe, George Romero, Terry Gilliam, William Friedkin, Alfonso Cuarón, John Boorman, Rutger Hauer, Joe Dante and Peter Greenaway, just to name a few. At the same time, the Festival has offered retrospectives of “old” glories while unearthing new talents. To top it all off, breathtaking Lucca serve as a stunning backdrop to an event that has now firmly established itself, becoming a highly anticipated and not-to-be-missed appointment in Italy and in Europe: the Lucca Film Festival.

Since its creation, the festival has always been committed to promoting contemporary films.
Therefore, directors from all over the world can submit their films to the competitive section of the festival through the dedicated call for entries. The 2022 edition of Lucca Film Festival will be held from 23 Semptember to 1 October, both in cinemas and online.

The 2023 will be the 8th edition of the Lucca Film Festival International Feature Film Competition. In the previous editions important personalities of cinema like Cristi Puiu, Rutger Hauer, Philip Groening and Claudio Giovannesi had been part of the international jury.

The films shown during this competition are Italian premieres and last edition was won by "Yamabuki" di Juichiro Yamasaki.

There are three awards: Best feature film prize (3000€), awarded by a jury of renowned guests from both the cinematographic and academic worlds; and Best feature film – university jury prize (awarded by an university jury), Best feature film - Popular jury and the Marcello Petrozziello Award.

For those who are interested in this competition, the last day for submissions is July 14 2023, until midnight.

There are no limitations to the genre or topic of the films. The only requirements are the following: the films must be at least 60 minutes long and must have been produced in 2022. Moreover, they must be Italian premieres, so they cannot have been presented in any other Italian festival, shown on any online open platform or distributed in any other way in Italy.

For the 18th year in a row, it will take place the historic short films competition, whose winner will receive a 500€ prize. Every year, the selection committee of this competition receives more than 300 films to evaluate. Among the directors who took part in earlier editions, there are celebrities like Adan Jodorowsky, son of the famous Chilean filmmaker.
Even though the “free experimentation” is the fil rouge of this year's edition, the films have no limitations in genre and topic. The only requirement is that they cannot last more than 29 minutes. For the short films competition, the last day for submissions is July 28, 2023, until midnight.

Lucca Film Festival launches, for the 2023 edition, a new short film competition, "Lucca Film Festival for Future", which was born thanks to the collaboration with the Sofidel Group, 2nd producer in Europe and 7th in the world for production capacity in the sector of paper for hygienic and domestic use (known in particular for the Regina brand), which has made sustainability a strategic lever of development and responsible growth to reduce its impact on natural capital and favour the transition towards a low carbon impact economy. The prize is 1000€.

List of the selected films will be published on the festival’s website within September 15, 2023. During the festival the movies will be shown in the cinemas taking part in the event and on demand online.

The Lucca Film Festival, coordinated by Nicola Borrelli, is one of the key events organized and sponsored by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca.

The event's main sponsors are Banca Generali and Banca Pictet, whereas the exhibits are produced with the support of Banca Société Générale. The organization of the Lucca Film Festival has also been possible thanks to the funding from Funder35 and the support of Gesam Gas & Luce S.p.A Istituto Luce Cinecittà S.r.l., Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca, Baldini Vernici, Lucar S.p.A Lions Club Lucca Le Mura, Alleanza Assicurazioni S.p.A, Luccaorganizza, Il Ciocco S.p.A, MiBACT (the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Activities and Tourism), the Region of Tuscany, the City of Lucca, the Province of Lucca with the collaboration and co-production of the Giglio Theatre in Lucca, Consociazione Nazionale donatori di sangue Fratres, Fondazione Giacomo Puccini e Museo Puccini – Casa Natale, Fondazione Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti, Fondazione Mario Tobino, Università degli Studi di Firenze, Martinelli Luce, CG Entertainment, Fondazione Centro Arti Visive e Fondazione UIBI. The FIC AUTOR (Author's International Film Festival) is interested in unique and artistic films that exceed the limits of traditional storytelling. We look for Feature and Short Films that reflect the director's personal creative vision, and a style that is distinct enough to shine through the collective process.

We don't care if your films have recognized stars or unknown names; we are against the politics and bureaucracy that floods the film industry. We want to be recognized as an objective festival. We don't want to build our reputation based on how many superstars are in attendance; what we want is the truly best world cinema in our theaters!

FIC AUTOR will strive to be one of the most important cultural events in the city. We aspire to become an international spotlight for new directors!

-The 13 winning Authors will receive the WINNER LAUREL, plus FIC AUTOR trophy or rings and sponsor's prizes.

-WINNERS will be announced one month before the award ceremony, so all the nominated filmmakers can decide beforehand whether they want to travel to the festival.

-The award ceremony will take place in the CINEFORO, one of the biggest cinema theaters in the city with 440 seats, and is the most prestigious.

We are not like other bulls**t festivals, YOU DONT have to pay for your prize. IT'S A PRIZE, NOT A DEBT! And we don't give metal or glass trophies... Our trophies are 100% made from silver and semi-precious stones! As independent filmmakers we know the things we love and hate about film festivals, so we want to avoid all the negative things we have found the in past years, such as exorbitant, unnecessary fees, teenage judges and of course.. trophies you would rather hide in the closet.

GEA Film Festival

Barcelona, Spain

GEA Film Fest is a short film world festival that takes place in various cities around the world simultaneously, with the goal of having better and more democratic spaces for viewing and debating over contemporary audiovisual matters, bringing the productions closer to the audience in non-conventional venues and giving an active voice to the spectators, that have the opportunity to select the works they like the most with a system similar to the qualifying rounds of the Soccer World Cup.

For the festival, a group of “coaches” will select 24 independent short films from all over the world, aiming to benefit the thematic and aesthetic diversity in order to make the audience visualize the largest possible spectrum of audiovisual creations. Short films that frequently have their participation restricted in other traditional spaces, find a window for their exhibition in GEA Film Fest.

Along with the 24 selected short films, GEA Film Fest will also take into account other audiovisual works in the non-competitive sections of the festival. All short films will be exhibited in alternative venues that run away from the stiffness of traditional exhibition venues. GEA Film Fest connects the relaxed ambient from bars and/or other alternative venues with the cinematographic screening, creating an atmosphere for real non-academic debate about the viewed productions, promoting this way, the birth of new cinematographic cultures.

With the union of this three-axis of thinking, to give visibility to short films from all the world outside of the official screening circuit, to break with the stiffness of the traditional exhibition venues and to promote the interaction and the active voice of the audience, the concept GEA Film Fest is born.

GEA Film Fest is inspired by the qualifying systems of the Soccer World Cup, classifying short films in groups, with the winners getting to the final. The trophy offered to the winners is the Gea cup, a figure of the Goddess Gea (Gaia) holding the Earth, and the logo is inspired by the Olympic games. The main idea of the festival is to be a popular event, for all audiences and with a relaxed nature.

Founded in 2016, TRAVEL FilmFest International Film Festival is a non-profit and non-government organization. Our mission is to promote all types of travel and outdoor sports, identify and support independent filmmakers, shooting films that deserve the attention of all travel and outdoor sports lovers around the world. By bringing together travel filmmakers from all parts of the world, we want that they could obtain feedback from professional travellers, sportsmen and the film community, as well as from the broad segments of the ones who love to travel and outdoor.
The Travel FilmFest International Film Festival collects the best travel/outdoor sports films from around the world, which were created both by professionals and by enthusiasts, and helps to get them across to the audience.
We admit only the films about travels and outdoor sports, both modern and historical ones. As well as those films, where travel or outdoor sports is an important part of the synopsis. Fiction, production, animated and documentary films on any types of travel, outdoor, extreme sports and adventures on the water and in the air, on land and under it, in the mountains and forests, on seas, rivers, lakes, swamps, about hiking, ski trek, rides on public transport, on vehicles and motorcycles, bikes, hitch-hiking, bus tours, pilgrimage tours, round-the-world trips... as well as films about cultures, traditions, lifestyle, history, countries, emigrants, wildlife & nature, world around us.
Not all creators of travel and outdoor sports films are necessarily the professionals, who work in the movies industry or on television. This is just a hobby for the majority of contestants. However, this does not mean that their films are worse. The original story that is told in the film plays a far more important role than its budget or the awards of its creator. You can make a good film even if you do not have a large budget, stellar cast and a large production team. You hold the keys to the kingdom. Go ahead!
All officially selected travel and outdoor sports films will be shown during the solemn final Award ceremony on October 19 - 20, 2024 in Limassol, Cyprus, and will be able to struggle for the main prize and the titles of the "Best travel film" and "Best outdoor sports film". As well as for the prizes in the standalone nominations.

Although are currently postponed, all of the screenings and Q&As will be scheduled for the first safe opportunity, even if they have to be merged in large events. Until then, ISF-LA has also optional streaming opportunities for who wants to join, namely VOD or monthly subscription via our TV channel.

Everything else is working as usual.

IMDb qualifier Indie Short Fest (ISF-LA) is an LA-based international film competition with red carpet live screenings and Q&A at the Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, CA, every two months.

ISF-LA is looking for independent projects from all genres, particularly low or no-budget ones, as well as from all countries, especially from those traditionally underrepresented in the global film industry.

Each round, all submitted projects are featured in ISF-LA site and social media (with the publication of synopsis, stills and a trailer/teaser) as part of a general promotional action of indie production. Submitter has the option of decline any public highlight, as long as notified ISF-LA, keeping however his project(s) under consideration. These projects are judged by a random team of invited experts from academia and film industry from Los Angeles area, against a high standard of merit. From the pool of official selection, which has a very competitive acceptance rate, ISF-LA chose the nominees and award winners of the season. All of them can add their projects to IMDb. Some of the award-winning projects, selected by the programmers of ISF-LA, are publicly screened in Los Angeles at the end of each round.

Before submitting, please read carefully the following:

Every submission can add numerous additional judging categories increasing the chance to become a multi-award-winning. In these cases, the name(s) to be credited should be included in the submission.

Notice that any entry is judged only according to the nature of the submitted category or categories. After the preliminary evaluation, ISF-LA can email the submitter with recommendations to other categories in which the entry can be more suitable to and have more chances to be a good competitor. Still, the decision to submit to other categories, and the payment of the associated fees, belong exclusively to the submitter and does not guarantee any award or the official selection.
