Emerging Talent Film Festival - Winter 2024
Are you an ambitious filmmaker or screenwriter who wants to move forward in your career? Do you have a new short film or screenplay that deserves recognition? Could you be a rising star of tomorrow?

The Emerging Talent Film Festival has live screenings four times a year, numerous awards in many categories combined with a unique networking event. It is organised by the programmers from the New Renaissance Film Festival - one of Film Freeway's top 20 best-reviewed festivals, known for artistically-driven programming. From our inception in 2016, we have been introducing promising filmmakers and screenwriters to producers and industry professionals to help them with their careers. Since 2021, NRFF London has awarded more than £5,000 in cash prizes to emerging talent thanks to the generosity of our patron. These artists are individuals with a genuine commitment to working in TV and film and who are producing exciting, new work.

Why should you submit?

• Your film will be watched and judged by A JURY of established producers, directors and filmmakers from the TV and film industry.

• You have the chance to WIN LAURELS for your film or screenplay i.e. Finalist, Official Selection and Winner. These seals of approval can open doors to other festivals and marketing opportunities.

• If you are a filmmaker, GET YOUR FILM SCREENED. A selection of the nominated films will have a live screening at the cinema during the festival

• Selected filmmakers will be invited to ATTEND OUR NETWORKING EVENT in London with members of the jury, NRFF's patron Katie Partridge (the Saphira Group), representation from production companies and fellow filmmakers. Filmmakers will have a chance to articulate what their needs are to the various parties

• Selected screenwriters will be invited to PITCH YOUR SHORT FILM SCRIPT to the audience present at the awards presentation and the networking event.

How does submission process work?

• Although we advise you to submit into one of the MAIN CATEGORIES as well as one of the SUB CATEGORIES, feel free to pick and choose.

• After we've received all submissions we will decide who will be a Finalist. Each Finalist will receive a laurel and will compete with all other Finalists to be Officially Selected.

• Those who are Officially Selected will receive a laurel for this and will be Nominees in the various categories.

• All Nominated Films will be invited to attend the Awards Presentation and the Networking Event in London. A selection of the nominated films will have a live screening at the cinema during the festival.

• The Winners will be announced at the Awards Presentation. The winners will receive a Winners Laurel.

• A selection of the winners will be invited to the workshops and the screenings at the NRFF London festival in London in September

People Versus TV (PVTV) invites filmmakers, video artists, and creators of all stripes to submit their films for our upcoming Fringe Flicks event series. We are on the lookout for unconventional work and love anything that’s subversive, absurd, and surreal.

We welcome submissions that are weird, anarchic, fun, absurdist, surreal, experimental, parody, and satire that punches up. We encourage submissions from artists at any stage of their career.

Why Submit to Fringe Flicks?
Fringe Flicks is more than just a screening; it’s a celebration of avant-garde and boundary-pushing work in the moving image in all its forms. By participating, your work will be showcased alongside like-minded creators, and reach an audience eager for unique and challenging content.

Screening Details:
Selected films and videos will be showcased at our Fringe Flicks events in Liverpool, with a mix of short and longer films at each. The events are every two months. The next confirmed dates are:

2nd Aug 2024 (programme full)
18th Oct 2024 (programme full)
6th Dec 2024 (programme open)
Selected films will be shown at one of our events from December onwards.

Submissions are through FestHome.

Event Structure:
Fringe Flicks is designed to provide a platform for unconventional, experimental, and boundary-pushing films. Each event is divided into two halves with an intermission:

- First Half: This segment showcases shorter films, including micro-shorts and impactful pieces under half an hour.
- Intermission: A break where attendees can mingle, discuss the films, and enjoy refreshments and popcorn from the bar.
- Second Half: The spotlight shifts to longer films or a feature presentation, offering a deeper dive into narrative and experimental storytelling.

The bar will remain open after the screenings, providing an excellent opportunity for filmmakers and audience members to engage in discussions, network, and share their thoughts on the films.

If we haven’t selected your work for one of our listed events, we may still be interested in showing it in the future. We will contact you first for permission if this is the case.

Quality & Experience:
Imagination and creativity are more important for shorter works than technical ability. FICSEM is a new Social and Ecological Film Festival, which was going to see the light of day for the first time in 2020, in the Mediterranean area.

For major reasons, and having been immersed in a situation in which we have all been affected, we have decided to adapt to the current situation, and give a new focus to our festival. Maintaining the enthusiasm and passion we feel for the artistic world.

Our festival is aimed at the dissemination and promotion of film authors related to topics of social and/or ecological value.

Because we believe in the power of art as a transformative medium, our contribution from this festival is to give visibility to projects that address environmental and social changes in which we are immersed. We are an international festival because we understand the world beyond barriers, and because we are moved by the need to get to know other cultures and share the best of ours, as it contributes to any improvement in any corner of the world.

The Mediterranean is the climate that surrounds us, and we feel identified with it. In terms of warmth, closeness and transparency. We are a festival that is starting strong, with a large number of committed artists who share our cause, and the desire to share.

And that is why we are not afraid to break the most classic festival patterns. So much so, that in the award for best actor and/or actress, the recognition of the award falls on their social and/or ecological work... And not only on their skills.

Despite having firm ideological foundations. We open ourselves to other artistic areas and initiatives.

Film submissions are limited to 15-30 minutes in length. Songs submitted music to be submitted as an MP3 file, and if video, an MP4.

Films Inspiring Hope: The focus of the film should have a storyline in which the characters face a challenge, and find their way to become hopeful and overcome the incident. Character development is especially desirable in this film, and in some manner, the central charter offers the viewer inspiration.

Films of Encouragement: The underlying message of the film is meant to offer encouragement, uplift the viewer, and leave them feeling an increased sense of motivation.

Films Focused on Global Healing: There is a great disparity between countries and the availability of resources to address issues of health and wellness. Films in this category may provide insight to identify problematic areas, and remedies to address these concerns, and to support universal acceptance and love.

Women's Issues: Women are not only a resource of nurturance, but accomplish remarkable achievements either individually, as a part of a family, or within their community. Maintaining life-Balance is frequently a struggle because of the multiplicity of demands placed on women. Social position and status can look different within the context of various cultures. Films in this category are meant to explore female empowerment and bring insight and increased understanding of the roles women place within their culture.

Men’s Issues: The role of men in cultures throughout the world has been undergoing changes. This can lead to confusion and feelings of insecurity. Modern men may stay at home and care for the children, or they may continue to function in traditional roles. Film submissions about men’s issues are encouraged to address the ways in which men come to understand their emotions, become comfortable with the expression of emotion, and how they connect in significant relationships.

Spirituality: Religious practice is not necessarily the same as spiritual practice; however, both or either can play an important role in our health and well-being. Films that focus on spiritual development, our relationship to ourselves and others within this realm, and how we contribute to the world through spiritual practice would be of interest in this film category.

Social Issues, Resilience & Sustainability: In every culture, there are issues of social injustice, conflict, and social differences, which can affect human or animal existence and the ability to maintain resilience. It is frequently not enough to be resilient because multiple losses can occur, we must instead focus on our ability to sustain resilience. Films that speak to how we might address social concerns that involve the depletion of social, emotional, environmental, or financial resources are welcome in this category.

Best Instrumental Score: Music scores may be from any genre, and the music should evoke visual imagery, and heightened imagination.

Best Original Song: All genres are accepted and will be evaluated based on the quality of performance and production.

Music Video: All genres are accepted and will be evaluated based on the quality of production in sound and visual imagery.

Original Holiday Songs: Submit Chanukah, Christmas, or any Holiday song in any genre that inspires hope, encouragement, or global healing through instrumental or vocal music.

Holiday Short Films: Submit Chanukah, Christmas, or any Holiday short films that inspire hope, encouragement, or global healing through instrumental or vocal music.

Holiday Music Videos: Submit Chanukah, Christmas, or any Holiday music video in any genre that inspires hope, encouragement, or global healing through instrumental or vocal music.

Christian Music Video or Original Songs: Profess faith and send a message of hope, encouragement, and global healing through cinema or music.

PG-13 Music Video or Short Films: On occasion, filmmakers, videographers, or songwriters will include language that is not suitable for children but is in the script to emphasize a concept or lyric. This special category has been created so that these submissions don't have to be excluded. Notification of the PG-13 label will be announced at film festival events so that individuals sensitive to language, or who have children or adolescents with them can determine how to make an intelligent decision about viewing.

Special Interest and Historical Topic Short Films or Music Videos: Historical and current events can be cinema-worthy. Please submit films or music videos, that document life events that inspire hope, encouragement, or global healing.

Special Interest and Historical Topic Original Songs: Historical and current events can be music-worthy. Please submit original songs, that document life events that inspire hope, encouragement, or global healing.

Children's Short Films, Music Videos, or Original Songs: In an effort to communicate the importance of inspiring hope, spreading encouragement, and supporting global healing; Round The Globe features cinema and music specially made for a younger audience to view, listen to, and enjoy and they learn about the importance of health and wellness.

Mammoth Lakes Film Festival

Mammoth lakes, United States

We are the U.S. west coast premier destination festival for films such as fest favorites like Damsel starring Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska, to world premiere new discoveries like Netflix favorite Abducted in Plain Sight and many more.

We are dedicated to discovering and supporting the next generation of filmmakers. There’s a reason MovieMaker magazine has named Mammoth Lakes Film Festival as one of the “Top 50 Film Festival’s Worth Your Entry Fee” for the last nine years in a row: We put our filmmakers first!

We focus on bringing top-level press and industry professionals to the festival to get maximum exposure for our filmmakers. Past attendees included Variety, Hollywood Reporter, The LA Times, A24, Greenwich Entertainment, MovieMaker Magazine, and more.

The 11th annual Mammoth Lakes Film Festival will screen features and shorts for five days in the spectacular setting of Mammoth Lakes—California’s premier mountain resort, high in the Eastern Sierra. It will take place on Wednesday through Sunday, May. 21-25, 2025.

MLFF captures the imagination of audiences and contributes to the vitality of film culture by providing emerging filmmakers with an opportunity to show their latest work in a vibrant and nurturing atmosphere. Visitors are drawn to the area to experience exciting new films by both new and established independent artists, and for the opportunity to mingle with them at fun and friendly daily events. The festival is also a forum for filmmakers to have their work seen by industry professionals who have the potential to provide mentorship and propel their careers.

We are committed to promoting film as an art form by focusing on personal, innovative, imaginative films by writers and directors with a unique style and point of view. We present these films in the beautiful natural setting of Mammoth Lakes—a perfect backdrop for an independent film festival and a premier tourist destination in its own right. Because we are a destination resort, just a 4 to 5-hour drive or a quick flight from Los Angeles, we have strong allies within the entertainment industry. Our jury members are acclaimed artists and professionals from the world of independent film. We give out multiple awards in the categories of Narrative Features, Documentary Features, and Short Films. In 2024 we awarded cash and prizes valued at more than $40,000.00. We also provide travel stipends, housing, and festival passes for our filmmakers. Our juries have included Andrew Lazar (Producer of AMERICAN SNIPER), Allison Amon (Producer of THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES), Rachel Winter (Academy Award winning producer DALLAS BUYERS CLUB),and John Feidler (Producer of SERIAL MOM and PECKER). 2024 sponsors included Panavision, Light Iron, Town of Mammoth Lakes, among many others.

The Mammoth Lakes Film Festival, a DBA 501(c)3, is committed to showcasing the talent and imagination of emerging filmmakers and nurturing their efforts to follow their dreams.
